George Bryce's Pro Stock Motorcycle School: The Experience of a Lifetime

Click to read about our motorcycle drag racing school STRAIGHT from the mouth of one of our previous students,

Tony Ferland Jr.!

From Tony: The day is finally here. It’s 4 a.m., and I am on my way to the world famous George Bryce and

Frank Hawley Pro Stock Motorcycle Drag Racing School. On the flight down to Auto Plus Raceway in Gainesville, FL, I couldn’t

help myself from thinking of all the great racers that have attended this school. It’s going to be a serious moment when it’s

my time to throw a leg over one of the bikes.  After a three-hour flight and a short ride over to the track as we pulled in

Michael Ray finishes No. 2 in the NHRA Championship with 8th semifinal appearance at Pomona

After remaining within the top five Pro Stock Motorcycle competitors for 13 consecutive races of this 16-race season,

the Sovereign-Star Racing team and racer Michael Ray will finish their 2013 season in the No. 2 position of the NHRA

Mello Yello Series Countdown to the Championship following this past weekend’s event in Pomona, Calif.

This marks the 14th season that Star Racing has finished at No. 1 or No. 2 in the overall points standings.

After a three-year hiatus from NHRA drag racing, Star Racing owner George Bryce teamed up with Hungarian-based

Sovereign Racing and owner Jenõ Rujp in 2012 to make a comeback in the sport. In only two short seasons, the

Sovereign-Star Racing team has struggled its way back to become one of the top competitors in the Pro Stock Motorcycle class.

“It was a great season, and I think that No. 2 was a great goal that we accomplished. In two years, we’ve

moved a long way from where we started, and I feel like we’re back in the hunt to win races every single time

that we go,” Bryce said. During his first full season racing for this team, Ray has claimed two national event wins,

Sovereign-Star Racing's Michael Ray qualifies No. 1, Chaz Kennedy has successful NHRA debut at Reading, Pa.

The Sovereign-Star Racing team moved one step closer in the NHRA Mello Yello Series Countdown to the Championship with No. 3 Michael Ray’s stellar

performance that led him to the semifinal round of competition after qualifying No. 1 and setting the Pro Stock Motorcycle low ET (Elapsed Time) of the

event this past weekend Oct. 4-6 at the Auto-Plus NHRA Nationals.

This event at Maple Grove Raceway in Reading, Pa., was also the Pro Stock Motorcycle debut for 19-year-old rookie Chaz Kennedy who piloted the team’s

other S&S Cycle-powered Buell motorcycle to the No. 13 qualifying position in his first NHRA national event.

“I’m looking forward to going to Reading and running really well. We’ve been taking those baby steps forward, so now it’s just time to keep up the

momentum towards the championship. We’re not out of it yet. Maple Grove has been such a truly magical place for our team. That’s where

Angelle (Sampey) got her first win with the Star Racing team.

Michael Ray moves up to No. 4 in the Countdown after semifinals appearance at St. Louis

Sovereign-Star Racing’s Michael Ray raced to his fifth semifinals appearance of the 2013 season this past weekend at the

Countdown to the Championship.

Ray moved up one spot in the overall points standings from No. 5 to No. 4, leaving him only 17 points, or less than one round

of competition, out of the second place position.

“They haven’t given anyone that Championship title yet. There’s a lot of racing still left to go, and I’d say we’re definitely not out

Sovereign-Star Racing's new entry denied for St. Louis

According to a decision handed down today (Thursday) by Graham Light of NHRA’s Competition Department, the Sovereign-Star Racing team

will not be permitted to enter 19-year-old developmental driver Chaz Kennedy as the replacement racer following Scotty Pollacheck’s resignation

from the team on Tuesday.

Sovereign-Star Racing received the unexpected news on Tuesday morning that Pollacheck, who is No. 6 in the points standings, would be

resigning for the remaining four races of the NHRA Mello Yello Series Countdown to the Championship, beginning with this weekend’s

AAA Insurance NHRA Midwest Nationals in St. Louis, Mo. Following the news that one of their championship contenders would be leaving

the team taking his points with him, the team quickly scrambled to find a replacement driver for their two-motorcycle team.

Strong performance by Sovereign-Star Racing overshadowed by second round losses at Dallas

In the second race of the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) Mello Yello Series Countdown to the Championship, Sovereign-Star Racing drivers

No. 5 Michael Ray and No. 6 Scotty Pollacheck competed at the top of the Pro Stock Motorcycle field in terms of power and engine performance,

but both racers struggled on the Christmas tree at the AAA Texas NHRA FallNationals at Texas Motorplex in Dallas, Texas.

After Friday’s qualifying sessions were rained out, the teammates only had two chances on Saturday to make the top 16 field for Sunday’s

eliminations. Both S&S-powered Sovereign-Star Racing motorcycles qualified first round and improved their performance during the second

session later that day, leaving Ray at the No. 4 position and Pollacheck at No. 9 going into eliminations.

During round one eliminations on Sunday, both motorcycles improved to their quickest ETs (Elapsed Time) of the weekend to advance

Ray and Pollacheck to the next round. Ray posted a 6.855-second pass at 195 mph in round one against Angie Smith’s 6.992/187 mph.

Pollacheck also took a big lead with his 6.884 ET against Adam Arana’s 7.070-seconds.

Sovereign-Star Racing's Michael Ray looks to defend Dallas title

The AAA Texas NHRA Fall Nationals this weekend, Sept. 20-22, will present a special opportunity for Sovereign-Star Racing driver

No. 4 Michael Ray to relive his first career win from last season as he and teammate No. 5 Scotty Pollacheck compete at

Texas Motorplex in Dallas, Texas.

This weekend’s event marks the second of six races in the NHRA Countdown to the Championship and is also the second

of four back-to-back race weekends in Charlotte, N.C.; Dallas, Texas; St. Louis, Mo.; and Reading, Pa.

As the Sovereign-Star Racing crew heads out on the road for the next three weeks, their first stop will be Texas Motorplex

in Dallas where Ray claimed the first NHRA national event win of his career in 2012 while also breaking the Harley-Davidson

Screamin’ Eagle/Vance & Hines team’s 16-race winning streak.

Instead of focusing on all the hype surrounding his win from last year, Ray hopes to channel the positive energy from that

Chevrolet Performance U.S. Nationals at Lucas Oil Raceway in Indianapolis, Ind.

Sovereign-Star Racing team still in top 6 after challenging western swing

The two races of the western swing for the NHRA Mello Yello Series Pro Stock Motorcycle class provided little help for the

With only two races left for the Pro Stock Motorcycle class before the NHRA Mello Yello Series Countdown to the Championship begins, the Sovereign-Star Racing team is ready to get back to normal, sea level racing at the NHRA Sonoma Nationals at Sonoma Raceway in Sonoma, Calif., after a challenging weekend at the Mile-High Nationals in Denver, Colo.

“We were humbled a little bit by our lack of performance at Denver, but it’s just one of those wild-card races where anything can happen. The great thing about it is we don’t have to go home and lick our wounds before we go out and race again at Sonoma this weekend. We didn’t blow up any engines or break any parts at Denver, so we think the bikes will be ready to go really fast when we’re back at sea level in Sonoma,” Star Racing owner George Bryce said.

Sovereign-Star Racing teammates hold steady in points after tough Mile-High Denver race

Sovereign-Star Racing teammates Michael Ray and Scotty Pollacheck remain in the top five overall points standings for the NHRA Mello Yello Series Pro Stock Motorcycle class after a difficult weekend at the Mopar Mile-High NHRA Nationals in Denver, Colo.

Ray, who has claimed two national event wins for the team this season, kept his No. 2 position in the points standings behind points leader Hector Arana Jr. Pollacheck, who has advanced to three final rounds this year, also held onto his No. 5 spot with only 11 points, or less than one round, between himself and No. 4 John Hall.

The Mile-High Nationals is considered by most teams to be the most challenging race of the season since Bandimere Speedway’s 5,300-foot elevation presents unique challenges when tuning the engines and preparing the vehicles. The fourth annual Dollar General NHRA Four-Wide Nationals will present an entirely new challenge for the

Sovereign-Star Racing Pro Stock Motorcycle (PSM) team as they adapt to the unique four-lane racing style of

zMAX Dragway in Charlotte, N.C.

The upcoming Four-Wide Nationals held this weekend, April 19-21, creates a one-of-a-kind racing experience for

both spectators and the racers themselves as they compete against not one opponent but three at a time.

The Pro Stock Motorcycle class has only raced at the four-wide event one other time in 2010, while Star Racing was on a temporary

hiatus from the sport.

“This will be our team’s ... Continue Reading.

Pollacheck makes second final round appearance, Ray moves to top ten

The O’Reilly Auto Parts NHRA SpringNationals this past weekend gave Sovereign-Star Racing’s Scotty Pollacheck his second

appearance in a final round of competition and moved teammate Michael Ray up three places in the overall points after he

won his first two rounds of the 2013 season.

Rainy Saturday weather conditions at Royal Purple Raceway in Houston, Texas, halted qualifying after only three sessions,

but that was all the Sovereign-Star Racing pair needed after making strong passes straight off the trailer on Friday.

The teammates went into Sunday’s Pro Stock Motorcycle Mello Yello Series eliminations with Pollacheck at No. 2 and Ray at No. 6.

opportunities as their racer Scotty Pollacheck made his first final round appearance and advanced to No. 2 in the points,

while also setting the low ET of the event, of his career and of his team’s career.

Pollacheck went into the Four-Wide at zMAX Dragway in Concord, N.C., at the No. 4 spot in the points standings after 2

advancing to his first semifinals at the March NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle season opener in Gainesville, Fla. He would

Chassis builder loses eyesight, but not vision for racing

For fabricator and past racer, Dan Parker, his dreams, goals and everyday life changed permanently on March 31, 2012, when a horrible

accident left lasting injuries that would change his life forever.

Parker’s most significant injury sustained during the crash, but not realized until more than two weeks later after he awoke from

a medically-induced coma, was the complete loss of his eyesight. In addition, he sustained severe injuries to his right arm, a

broken tailbone and crushed vertebrae in his back.

The consequences of that day nearly one year ago would not diminish Parker’s aspirations, but instead would end up fueling

them into something much greater – a chance to become the world’s first blind man to compete on the Bonneville Salt Flats.

“It was a huge deal for me to make it to the semis, because I hadn’t done that before. It was an awesome feeling just because we’ve been working so hard to do that, so to finally win second round and make it to the semis we knew it wasn’t some fluke thing that we made it that far,” Pollacheck said.

MonStar Cylinder Head debuts at first ADRL race

Our customer, Jay Fisher, raced in his first race EVER - by himself, no Ken Johnson, no Andrew, no George Bryce, no Star Racing crew.

So, what race did he decide to enter by himself? ROCKINGHAM!! The 1st ADRL race of the year!

He also ran a brand new 1750 Star Racing engine with a new billet MonStar head on it. Jay put the engine together, tuned it, drove it and

qualified 13th at his 1st race! The No. 3, 4 and 5 qualifiers were running 4.09 to 4.11, and Jay got out run 1st round with a 4.18 at over 170 mph.

Dave Norris out ran him with a 4.10 @ 169 mph. Jay made it close with a .05-second holeshot. Jay, we are proud of you! You made us look great

and we were not even there!

We sell what we race. We are very proud of the job we did on Jay Fisher's port work. He now runs the same speed - over 170 mph - with MUCH

smaller N2O jets than his 2 valve Pro Stock head.

We got his engine running, dynoed and tested ... THEN sent it to Monster Race Products to get digitized to share and sell to EVERYONE as the

new billet MonStar Cylinder Head! Thanks to Monster Race Products for joining forces with us to make this product a reality!

George Bryce: V-Twin vs. 4-Cylinder in the NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle Class

This conversation was copied from a Facebook conversation between Star Racing owner George Bryce and one of the team's fans.

Race Fan: Hey George, a curiosity question about the rules and the Suzuki CI limit........ HOW BIG can you make a Suzuki engine and can it safely

LIVE at that size? I have been curious about the 107 CI vs the 160 CI on the v twins?

George: We make almost the same power with each. That is why the best Buell and best Suzuki go within .05 hundredths of each other

. In order for a big Vtwin to run with ... Click to continue reading.
